NSC ACCUSED OF TICKET RACKETEERING

The Technical Director of Sekondi Eleven Wise, Nana Agyemang has accused the National Sports Council of running an illegal ticket syndicate at the Sekondi Sports Stadium.

Nana Agyemang alleges that some staff of the Sports Council have been selling illegal tickets to spectators which are unaccounted for.

He contends that the situation had persisted for some time but matters came to a head on Sunday when Wise played Obuasi Ashgold.

Speaking to Citi Sports after his team’s 2:0 win over Obuasi Ashgold at the Sekondi stadium on Sunday, Nana Agyemang was adamant that his club had been given a raw deal by the Council.

“We have uncovered a syndication whereby Sports Council staff and security alike have been selling tickets illegally at the Sekondi Sports stadium,” he said.

The former All Blacks coach said, “We would take drastic measures to make sure the situation does not persist because Wise has always been a club that the national sports council has sought to exploit.”

He said: “Even at the Gyandu Park, the Council sold tickets unknowingly to us and later went for the proceeds and today is the last straw.”

In a related development, the Estate Manager of the Sekondi Sports Stadium, Albert Adu-Acquah, has denied the allegation by the Wise official insisting that staff of the Council are not directly involved in the selling of the ticket.

He said he was surprised by the allegations from Nana Agyemang since Wise had not officially complained to him.“Nobody complained to me about certain things so I’m surprised Nana Agyemang is bringing this issue up,” he said.

“Maybe somebody might have whispered something of that sort to him because we have a situation where we have a ticket seller, a ticket checker, a Policeman, a Fire Service officer and a Sports Council observer at each ticket selling boot at the stadium.”

“The Sports council official is just there to observe what goes on because we don’t allow them to sell the tickets.”

Albert Adu Acquah however said the Council will cooperate with Sekondi Eleven Wise to get to the bottom of the matter.

“We have a duty roaster, so if Nana Agyemang has his facts right, we will just go through the duty roaster and see who did what at the ticket boots,” he said.
